What we do
Community Link and World Link are programmes run through EUS’s Volunteer Centre. We are located between the Chaplaincy and the EUSA offices in the Potterrow Student Centre in the University of Edinburgh.
Community Link arranges volunteering placements for university students, staff and members of the public.
I am very glad that I had such an exceptional opportunity. My dreams would not have become a reality if not for the help of EUS’s Volunteer Centre” – Peter A Fayomi, esq. 16th July 2008, the University Of Edinburgh.
Why we do it
The Settlement movement was originally founded as a ‘town and gown’ link between academic institutions and their wider communities, ‘settling’ undergraduates interested in social reform within impoverished areas of the community.
Our Community Link and World Link programmes follow the Settlement spirit. We support volunteers to gain placements in organisations who can benefit from their skills. The volunteer also gains from doing something worthy and satisfying, as well as gaining valuable and interesting work experience, developing transferable skills, giving them contacts within a chosen field and work-related references for CVs.
How we do it
Anyone that is interested in arranging voluntary work should contact Community Link and we will find organisations that are most suited to their interests, experience and availability.
Likewise, any organisation that is interested in hosting volunteers should contact us and we can help find people who fit the bill!
