Edinburgh University Settlement is very proud to announce our acquisition of the Roxy Art House (formerly Lady Glenorchy’s Parish Church). This is a monumental building in the centre of Edinburgh’s Old Town, located at 2 Roxburgh Place, Edinburgh, and we aim to do it justice by developing it into a vibrant arts and charitable centre. The building consists of a basement area with bar, music venue and theatre. This houses The Bowery, a bar with live music events throughout the week and a constantly changing schedule. Please see www.thebowery.org.uk for more information.
On the ground floor we have a magnificent hall, capable of holding 600 for a huge variety of events, from classical music concerts to sit-down banquets to wild ceilidhs! To this end we have already begun hosting events with the Ceilidh Collective, a charitable company which organizes fundraising ceilidhs. Please see www.ceilidhcollective.org.uk for more information
The first floor of the building holds a 200 seater theatre with great atmosphere, being housed in the former schoolhouse. This is available for hire throughout the year.
This venue has huge potential, and we aim to use this potential to create a vibrant hub for arts and charitable enterprises in Edinburgh, Scotland and internationally.
